Garment Construction Workshop

So you know how to knit, but you’re not quite sure how to put it all together? This workshop will teach you 4 techniques which will enable you to piece together your knitwear with confidence. Live stitch grafting, overcasting, mattress stitch and shoulder seam grafting, will have your projects looking professional in no time.

The cost of this workshop includes tuition in a small group, plenty of tea and biscuits and pieces of unfinished knitwear for everyone to practice on. This workshop is suitable for those who know how to knit, but have little or no knowledge of how to construct knitted garments.

If you want to come along then please book a space online through our shop, in person at our store or by email at info@laine-madeunique.com Spaces are limited to 6 people per workshop, so pre-booking is essential. We look forward to seeing you!

Beginner's Knitting Club

All of our knitting classes are open to any crafters who’d like to come along on a pay as you feel basis, but please still reserve a space in advance. The shop is a bit of a squeeze for any more than 6 people!

If you've never picked up a pair of needles before then this is the class for you. This class is also suitable for those who are just feeling a little rusty. By the end of this project you'll be able to knit, cast on and cast off.

For the first installation of our beginner sessions we will be working on the garter stitch scarf, shown above.

If you choose to buy your equipment through us then you can choose from 35 gorgeous shades of super squidgy alpaca blend wool. We'll also supply you with a set of bamboo needles, a pattern and a kit bag.

If you'd rather bring your own then that's just fine! We recommend a Super Chunky yarn and 8-9mm needles. (Tea, homemade goodies and great company are free of charge.)

If you’d like to follow a pattern rather than working on your own project then read on… If you're a fairly confident knitter then this is the class for you. Ideally you'll be comfortable with casting on and knitting (but quick learners are often fine even if they don’t know how!) By the end of this project you'll be able to knit using circular needles, do the purl stitch, knit a rib and decrease.

For the first installation of our intermediate sessions we will be working on the pom pom hat, shown above.

If you choose to buy your equipment through us then you can choose from 35 gorgeous shades of super squidgy alpaca blend wool. We'll also supply you with a set of circular bamboo needles, a pom pom maker, a pattern, darning needle and a kit bag.

If you'd rather bring your own then that's just fine! We recommend Super Chunky yarn and 8mm needles. (Tea, homemade goodies and great company are supplied free of charge!)
